Korea launched the K-Tour Pass on October 1, 2026 to get foreign visitors out of Seoul, and Busan is the first — so far the only — destination. It costs ₩15,000 (about US$11), it is sold only to foreigners, and everything on it expires on December 31, 2026. It is not a classic sightseeing pass: think of it as discount coupons for getting to Busan plus one free ticket once you are there. This part gives the regular prices first, then what the pass saves, and how to stack it with a few other tricks.

The short answer: going Seoul → Busan by KTX or bus, buy it — on a typical trip (AREX from Incheon, KTX to Busan, two paid attractions) it cuts ₩132,400 to about ₩83,600. Flying straight into Gimhae, it is worth it only if one of the 35 free attractions is on your list anyway.

What you get for ₩15,000

What it is Max value
Transport to Busan 40% off one train or bus ticket ending in Busan — or ₩24,000 off a KORAIL Pass up to ₩24,000
AREX coupon 50% off one Incheon Airport Express (non-stop) ticket up to ₩6,000
1 free attraction Pick 1 of 35, one visit up to ₩54,000
WOWPASS card Prepaid debit + T-money transit card, issued empty card normally ≈ ₩5,000
~50 partner discounts Cafés, yachts, hanbok, Olive Young… unlimited uses varies

Two rules shape everything else: the coupons work only on bookings made through the seller you bought from (Klook or HopnHop, VISITKOREA), and the transport coupon works only if Busan is your final stop.

K-Tour Pass savings calculator

Train/bus coupon: 40% of the fare, max ₩24,000; KORAIL Pass coupon ₩24,000. AREX coupon: 50% of the ₩13,000 online fare, max ₩6,000. KTX ₩54,400 is KORAIL's standard fare; other fares are Klook listings converted from US$ or bus estimates (October 2026). Attraction values are adult gate prices. Partner discounts not counted.

Getting to Busan

Route Regular fare With the K-Tour coupon
AREX express, Incheon Airport → Seoul Station ₩13,000 online ₩7,000 (₩6,000 cap)
KTX Seoul → Busan, fastest (2h20–2h50) ₩54,400 ₩32,640
KTX Seoul → Busan, stopping services (3h+) ≈ ₩47,000–50,000 ≈ ₩28,200–30,000
ITX-Saemaeul Seoul → Busan (~5h) ≈ ₩43,900 ≈ ₩26,300
Mugunghwa Seoul → Busan (~6h) ≈ ₩29,400 ≈ ₩17,600
Express bus, standard / premium (~4h30) ≈ ₩29,100 / ≈ ₩43,300 ≈ ₩17,500 / ≈ ₩26,000

₩54,400 is KORAIL's standard fare since the KTX–SRT merger on September 1, 2026 (New Daily). The other train fares are Klook's listings for October 27 departures, converted at the rate Klook used for the pass itself (US$11.29 = ₩15,000); by that rate Klook's fastest KTX came to about ₩55,100–55,800, 1–3% above KORAIL's own fare. Bus fares are estimates after the 9% fare-cap rise on October 1.

Is it worth it? Four common trips

2-day KORAIL Pass (₩131,000) ₩24,000 + ₩6,000 — +₩15,000 before the attraction

The one case where it does not pay: you land at Gimhae, ride the metro, and none of the 35 attractions interest you. The partner discounts alone rarely add up to ₩15,000. For when the 2-day KORAIL Pass itself is worth buying, see how to get to Gyeongju.

The cheapest way to do Seoul → Busan: stack it

One solo trip priced three ways — land at Incheon, go to Busan, do the Skyline Luge and X the Sky:

No pass K-Tour + KTX K-Tour + Mugunghwa
K-Tour Pass — ₩15,000 ₩15,000
AREX express ₩13,000 ₩7,000 ₩7,000
Train to Busan ₩54,400 ₩32,640 ≈ ₩17,600
Skyline Luge (3 rides) ₩36,000 free free
X the Sky ₩29,000 ₩29,000 ₩29,000
Total ₩132,400 ≈ ₩83,600 ≈ ₩68,600
Saved — ≈ ₩48,800 (37%) ≈ ₩63,800 (48%)

The KTX column uses KORAIL's fare; on Klook the base is 1–3% higher, so it lands a few hundred won above this. The Mugunghwa column trades about four more hours on the train for another ₩15,000 — most people take the KTX, but with a slow day and a book it is the cheapest way to Busan.

Seven ways to push it further

  1. Spend the free ticket on your most expensive stop. Use it on the Luge (₩36,000), not X the Sky (₩29,000) — the full ranking is in the next section.
  2. Pick a slower KTX. On Klook, stopping KTX services ran about ₩5,000–8,000 cheaper than the fastest ones and take 30–45 minutes longer; the 40% applies to whatever fare you pick.
  3. Book early. Since October 1, 2026, KORAIL opens seats 60 days ahead instead of 30 (MOLIT/KORAIL, via Namane Card). Fares do not drop, but the cheaper, better-timed trains go first.
  4. Do not hunt for a second coupon. Klook allows one discount code per booking, so a site-wide promo code cannot be added on top. Two travellers means two passes and two separate bookings.
  5. Buy the other attractions online, not at the gate. SEA LIFE Busan's own site sells advance tickets up to 31% below the gate price (SEA LIFE Busan); online agencies list Lotte World Busan well under its ₩49,000 gate price, and Gyeongju World was about ₩38,000–40,000 online in September (Gyeongju sights).
  6. Ride the metro on a day ticket if you take four or more rides. The ₩6,000 day ticket (₩13,000 for three days) lives in the Busan Metro app, which foreigners can use as a guest with an email address (Busan Transportation Corporation). It covers the metro only — not buses or the Gimhae light rail — so on mixed bus-and-metro days, load the WOWPASS card from your pass and tap it as T-money.
  7. Shop at Olive Young with the barcode, then claim the tax refund. The pass gives 5% off ₩100,000+ (max ₩10,000) at three Busan branches, and the tax refund is separate.

Flying into Gimhae instead? Skip the taxi: limousine 2 to Seomyeon is ₩6,000, and the light rail plus metro reaches Haeundae in about an hour at normal transit fares. The pass's value then comes only from the free attraction and the partner discounts.

Which free attraction to pick

You get one, once. Ranked by what it would cost at the gate:

Busan X the Sky29,000
Songdo Cable Car, Crystal return24,000
Arte Museum Busan, weekday22,000

Official sites, checked Oct 20, 2026

  • Gyeongju World — the only item outside Busan, and the most valuable. Worth it on a day trip to Gyeongju if you want rides more than tombs.
  • Lotte World Busan and the Skyline Luge are both in Gijang (Osiria); the Luge is the best value per hour.
  • Club D Oasis is the rainy-day pick: spa and outdoor pools in Haeundae.
  • X the Sky is the 100th-floor view over Haeundae; the Songdo cable car's Crystal cabin has a glass floor over the sea.

Also on the list: SEA LIFE aquarium, Busan Tower, a 2.5-hour hanbok rental in Gamcheon, a taekwondo class, surf rental at Songjeong, yacht rides, a mother-of-pearl craft class, escape rooms, laser tag, a ₩20,000 ZIM CARRY luggage voucher at Busan Station (useful on check-out day — see luggage storage) and ₩25,000 fish-cake vouchers. Free-entry rules for children differ by attraction and are not listed in one place, so check before buying for a family.

Partner discounts worth knowing

About 50 places discount every visit when you show the barcode, with no limit. The useful ones: Olive Young (three Busan branches, 5% off ₩100,000+, max ₩10,000 — see the Olive Young guide); Lotte Department Store Gwangbok and Busan Main (free drink, gifts at spend thresholds); yachts, 10–30% off at five operators; Haeundae River Cruise 20%, KNN Theater 42–45%, Shinsegae Ice Rink 50%; and WiFi Dosirak, 10% off pocket Wi-Fi and 5% off eSIM.

  • Busan only, for now. The government plans to extend the idea to five regional-airport hubs in 2027; details are not out yet.

Quick answers

Does it work for Busan → Seoul? No — Busan must be the final destination. Is Klook's train price the same as KORAIL's? Close: on October 20 the fastest KTX worked out 1–3% above KORAIL's ₩54,400 after conversion, far less than the 40% coupon saves. Do Suseo departures count? Since the merger, former SRT trains run as KTX and KTX-Sancheon from Suseo and Klook lists them; whether the coupon applies shows at checkout, so confirm before paying.

That closes the trip-planning course: entry forms, a transit card, the tax refund, Busan and the cities beyond, the weather, a jjimjilbang night, the luggage — and now a cheaper ticket south.

Frequently asked questions

What is the K-Tour Pass?

A ₩15,000 pass for foreign tourists, launched as a pilot on October 1, 2026 by the culture ministry and the Korea Tourism Organization. It bundles a 40% coupon for one train or bus ticket to Busan (up to ₩24,000) or ₩24,000 off a KORAIL Pass, a 50% coupon for the Incheon Airport express (up to ₩6,000), free entry to one of 35 attractions, about 50 partner discounts in Busan, and a WOWPASS prepaid and transit card. Everything expires on December 31, 2026.

Is the K-Tour Pass worth it?

If you travel Seoul → Busan by KTX or express bus, yes: the two transport coupons alone return about ₩27,000 on the fastest KTX, before the free attraction. On a typical trip — AREX from Incheon, KTX to Busan, the Skyline Luge and X the Sky — the total falls from ₩132,400 to about ₩83,600. If you fly straight into Gimhae and take no long-distance train or bus, it pays only if one of the 35 free attractions is on your list.

Where do I buy it and can I use the coupons on KorailTalk?

It is sold on Klook and HopnHop. The coupon codes work only in the checkout of the seller you bought from, one coupon per booking — not on KorailTalk, korail.com or at the station. Klook's coupon covers a train, a bus or a KORAIL Pass; HopnHop's covers trains only.

Can I get a refund?

Only if nothing has been used. Registering any coupon (AREX, train or bus, KORAIL Pass), looking up the WOWPASS issuance code, or scanning the mobile ticket once at an attraction or shop makes the whole pass non-refundable.

K-Tour Pass or Visit Busan Pass?

They do different jobs. The K-Tour Pass (₩15,000) discounts the journey to Busan and gives one free attraction; the Visit Busan Pass (₩45,000–85,000) gives three, five or unlimited attractions within 24 or 48 hours. Buy the K-Tour Pass for the trip, add a Visit Busan Pass only for a day with three or more paid sights, and use the K-Tour free ticket on a different day.
