Korea's delivery apps deliver anything cooked, anywhere, in thirty minutes, and Koreans use them more than any nation: 37 million monthly users on three apps in a country of 51 million. For a foreigner the questions are practical — which app works with a foreign card, what the memberships are worth, why the app price is higher than the menu on the wall — and this part answers them with the 2026 fees and a calculator for delivery versus pickup versus a membership.

The three apps

배달의민족 Baemin (Woowa Brothers, owned by Delivery Hero) — 22.43 million monthly users, the most restaurants, the B마트 grocery service, and since May 2026 payment with overseas-issued cards and Apple Pay, which removed the main foreigner barrier. The interface is Korean; iOS/Android live translation handles it. 쿠팡이츠 Coupang Eats — 9.63 million users and growing fastest, single-order (no batching) delivery, free delivery for Coupang WOW members (a promotion extended it to everyone through August 2026; non-members are back on standard fees); the app follows your phone language and takes the card registered to your Coupang account (overseas cards via Coupay — the Coupang guide). 요기요 Yogiyo — 5.47 million, a distant third, with its own pass. Between them Baemin and Coupang Eats hold about 90% of the market in 2026.

Sign-up needs a Korean mobile number for the verification text; no residence card is required, so a tourist with a Korean SIM can use them. Add your address as the road-name address with building and unit; save the door code (공동현관 비밀번호) in the delivery note.

Fees, minimums and memberships

Non-members pay a delivery fee that the restaurant and the platform set together — typically ₩0–4,000, with distance, rain, snow, holidays and the post-22:00 hours pushing it up — and face a minimum order of ₩12,000–15,000. Some restaurants offer their own free delivery above a threshold. The memberships: Baemin Club at ₩3,990 a month waives the fee at participating restaurants (it relaunches on October 1, 2026 with a points scheme and a fee "to be decided"); Coupang WOW at ₩7,890 makes Coupang Eats delivery ₩0 and also covers Rocket Delivery shopping, which is why most households that buy anything on Coupang already have it. Yogiyo's pass is similar. The calculator above shows the break-even: a few orders a month.

Dual pricing

The number that matters more than the fee. In 2025 the industry agreed a commission of 2–7.8% by restaurant size (down from 9.8%), but with advertising and delivery contributions the platforms' total take is about 26.2% of a restaurant's app sales. Restaurants responded with 이중가격제 — a higher menu on the apps than at the counter, commonly 10–30% — now spreading from the burger and chicken chains to independents, and increasingly disclosed in a line on the app menu. Two consequences: the "free delivery" badge is often paid for in the price, and pickup (포장 주문 in the app, or by phone) is usually charged at the lower in-store price with no fee, ready in 15–20 minutes.

What Koreans order, and how

Fried chicken (치킨, ₩20,000–26,000 a whole bird, the national delivery dish, half-and-half 반반 for fried and sauced), jjajangmyeon and tangsuyuk from the Chinese-Korean place (delivered in real bowls to be left outside the door for collection, in the old way), pizza, tteokbokki sets, jokbal and bossam (boiled pork, late-night), and 야식 — "night food" — after 22:00. The etiquette: "leave at the door" is the norm and the courier will not knock; rate the restaurant, not the courier, for food issues; and tipping is not a thing here either.

Delivery four nights a week is the most common budget leak among foreigners in Korea — the calculator shows it at ₩350,000–400,000 a month. The next part is the cure: a Korean pantry for ₩60,000 and five dishes that cost ₩3,000–5,000 a serving.
